Evaluation

Concluding to my evaluation I think that this piece of coursework was not that difficult because I already had the skills from the previous coursework when creating my school magazine on Photoshop and I got used to the tools and I was able to make my music magazine a good professional magazine using all my skills and hard work to create one like I did for the previous one.

1) My media product uses, develops and challenges the conventions of a real media product by using the same skills needed to make the magazine and like any other music magazine every one of them use conventions such as mastheads, images, additional key images, addition text and logo etc. This is that same way like creating my media product by using conventions by making the product come to life and interest the reader by using interesting images, colours and different fonts to make it even better.

2) My media product presents different social groups by just targeting at one type of social group and depends on what the music magazine genre is and which gender is it mostly targeted at. My music magazine is mostly targeted at females, because when I had done the questionnaire and making the results most females had answered the questionnaire and if you look at the music magazine you could tell form the colours and they style of font and the images that have been put on the music magazine.

 

3) The type of media institution that might distribute my media product is Bauer media; the reason why I think that this media institution would distribute my media product is because they have distributed other famous magazines such as "Q", "Empire" and "Heat” so hopefully they will be able to distribute my magazine.

4) The audience for my media product would be mostly females because looking at the questionnaire results the most gender in my results were females, because before creating the media product I had to do some research about my target audience and then the colours had to be planned what type of font, colours I would also use, so gathering all that information I had decided that my media product should be targeted at females. 

4) I attracted my audience by engaging them and persuading them to look at the comments that would then catch their eye on my media product and to persuade them that this is a good media product and addressing them these comments have been able to persuade my audience to come and take a look at the magazine.

5) The thing that I have learnt about new technologies is by using different websites and how to use them because now day’s technology is expanding and whilst constructing the process of my media product I learnt out new technologies everyday such as sound cloud, slideshare, blogger and Photoshop etc.  

6) With these new technologies I kept on developing my skills on Photoshop and blogger about how to design the blog how to design the product, what tools to use that helped me develop my skills from my previous coursework when creating the school magazine.

7) Furthermore, looking back at the preliminary task the thing that I felt that I have learnt is to use, develop my skills and coming up with new ideas like I had stated in the preliminary task that my music magazine that I am going to create will be my only important task and I think that it is not going to be that difficult because I already have the experience and skills on how to create a magazine and the thing that I have learnt from my music magazine is that I have gained confidence in creating one and being introduced to different software’s like Photoshop I have learnt an experience and new skills day by day.

Ongoing production log

What I have done so far?

This is an ongoing production log what I have done so far. The tasks I have done so far is analysis on music magazine front covers, contents pages and double page spreads, doing analysis will help me decide what type of music magazine I want to do, furthermore other things that I have done so far are: music magazine questionnaire results, print screen of questionnaire document, reader profile, brief about the tasks I have to do for my music magazine, rough sketches of music magazine, possible mastheads for the front cover.

These are all of the things that I uploaded on blogger and now I need to do my music magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread on Photoshop, this will be an easy task for me because I already have the skills to do so because I already have the experience in creating a magazine.

The masthead will be called MUSE.

There will be a main image of my model.

At the bottom there will be the name of the main story which is "Sophia Swans Exclusive Comeback."

there will be a website and date below the masthead and below that besides the main image there will be some text both left and right.

The colours that I will be using are purple and black.

The contents page will have four images on the right hand side making it look like a photo frame or a film strip and on the left hand side the page will be split into two. One part having regulars and one part having features and both of them having page number.

The double page spread will be an A3 paper. At the top it will have the main story name and on the right hand side there will be four pictures making it look like a photo frame or film strip.

At the bottom both left hand side and right hand side there will be two images and the rest of the double page spread will be filled with text of the interview.

The colours used will be purple and black.

Music magazine questionnaire

This is my print screen of my music magazine questionnaire example which then shows the results on my PowerPoint presentation.

Analysis of front cover, contents page and double page spread

This music magazine front cover is called “Top of the Pops.” This front cover is filled with images which makes the front cover look realistic also they are images of different celebrities. The colours of this front cover are bright the use of pink and purple connoting that this magazine is for both boys and girls.

The main image of this front cover magazine is of JLS and the main story is in the pink and yellow bubble however it is an inappropriate phrase.  Furthermore the colours scheme is nice and simple which is good because if you use too many colours it puts the reader off.  Moreover there are other features shown on the front cover.  The logo is from BBC.

This is a contents page of a music magazine. The colours are made simple purple connoting that this magazine is for both girls and boys. The top of the contents page is blank and the bottom is filled with features and other regulars.

The images are on the side made more like a photo frame. This contents page however is too plain because it needs something at the top. 

This is a double page spread of a music magazine. This double page spread would be targeted at girls because girls love boy bands and these are two members of one direction. The colours are simple and it is a grey background.  The double page spread has two main images and two main headings along with their stories. 

This double page spread is good because it’s nice and simple, not too many colours and most of all it stands out making it look realistic.
